Jalebi Recipe

The recipe of Jalebi is very simple to prepare. Before we start the process let me tell you the complete three steps that you will be following to prepare sweet and crispy jalebi for your family or guests.

So let’s see these three steps.

1. In the first step you need to prepare the batter with the help of flour. The batter should not be thicker or thinner. The texture should be medium.

2. In the next step the batter is poured into a squeezable container. However, you may also use a clean cloth for this. The batter is poured into the hot oil or ghee.

3. In the last step the jalebis are taken out of oil and dipped into the sugar syrup.

Now, let’s see the procedure in detail.

To make delicious Jalebi at home follow these steps one by one.

Preparing the Batter for Jalebi Recipe

Step 1. To prepare the batter, add maida, and corn flour into the bowl.

Step  2. Add Curd into the bowl and mix them well.

Step 3. Now add half cup of water.

Step 4. Mix all the ingredients well and beat them for a few minutes till it becomes soft.

Step 5. The mixture should not be very thick and also it should not be very thin like water. You may see in the image below.

Step 6. Add some lemon juice and mix well. Now keep the mixture aside till we prepare the sugar syrup jalebi recipe.

Preparing Sugar Syrup for Jalebi Recipe

Preparing sugar syrup is also a very simple procedure.

Step 7. Add sugar to a pan and then add water.

Step 8. Add saffron and some cardamom powder for flavour.

Step 9. Heat the mixture until it starts forming a single string. If you do not know while making sweet dishes the consistency of the sugar is measured in the string.

Step 10. You may check the string formation by taking a drop of syrup in between your thumb and finger and then separate it. If on separating a single string starts forming then you may turn off your gas.

Fry the Jalebi in oil / Ghee

I have used ghee to fry the Jalebi however, you may also use oil if you want.

Step 11. Heat the oil / Ghee in the pan.

Step 12. After the oil is properly heated add the batter in the cloth or into the container.

Step 13. Squeeze the cloth gently and move it in the round position to make a spiral shaped Jalebi. Make sure to keep the gas on low to medium flame.

Step 14. After the batter starts becoming crispy in the oil, take them out of the oil.

Step 15. Heat the sugar syrup on a very low flame and then dip the Jalebi into the Sugar Syrup for a few minutes.

Step 16. Take the Jalebi out of the Sugar syrup and serve them hot.

Some Important points to Consider while making Jalebi

  • While preparing the batter for Jalebi make sure to mix it well till the mixture becomes smooth enough. This will help in preventing the crumbs of maida in the Jalebi.
  • If you end up making the batter thicker you may add water to make it thin in texture.
  • Heat the Sugar till one string starts forming.
  • If you like to have crispy Jalebi like me then you need to pour the Jalebi into the warm sugar syrup. However, if you like to make them soft you may increase the heat of the syrup.

Conclusion

So this was a quick guide on how to make Jalebi at home. Jalebi is a sweet dish and is loved by every Indian. Some people like to have it with curd and Rabri while others enjoy it with tea or coffee.
